When I was received into the YAV program I felt a lot of different and conflicting emotions. This clip reminds me of myself and how I felt… minus the mommy issues, plus a lot of “Praise Jesus!”es! As you’ll see she is quite at war with herself. My emotions stem from the fears that I have… of stepping outside my comfort zone, of missing my family and friends, of not living up to my potential. My emotions also stem from the sense of excitement, anticipation, and adventure that I feel in my heart, stomach, and head every time I think about all that God has planned for me.
I am sometimes at war with myself and question this path that God and I have chosen together but luckily I have wonderful maternal support in my mom, who’s nothing like Lady Gothel, and who reminds me of the passage 1 Peter 5:6 & 7 that says: 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
I know that The Lord cares for me and I am comforted by the knowledge that He is in control. I know that, though not an easy decision, this path is the right decision and I look forward to all it has in store! I give thanks to the Lord and the Presbyterian Church (USA) for this incredible adventure!! Y’all stay tuned as I will soon begin my progressive trip from North Carolina to Miami, my final destination, by way of Illinois, then Maryland, and then New York!
